Artist: Nancy Baker
Acrylic paint, glitter construction with archival digital prints on rag paper, 18"Hx12" (unframed), 2014. Please note: This piece is sold framed.
About the work: Nancy’s work seems to explode off the wall. She uses geometrical shapes, which when assembled together, form organic masses. Nancy hand cuts each painted or archival, digitally printed piece, fitting them together to make collages that are bursting with color and energy. They are full of open areas that create an added dimension of shadow-work.
Nancy often incorporates words or phrases from what she’s reading or from bits of conversations that surround her as she walks around the city. The words title the piece, but they also suggest a dialogue started with the viewer. She’s now expanding these collages into sculptural forms that pack the same explosive punch, playing with shadow, form and energy as her two-dimensional work.
