Don and Era are a collaborative team who also own the renowned Magnolia Press in Oakland, CA. They’ve worked with a wide-range of artists from Chuck Close to Kiki Smith to help bring their visions to life.
For their own work, Don and Era collaborate to make intensive, richly multi-layered prints and tapestries. "Electric Thangka" shows a Buddha in meditation. His body, however, is disappearing from the picture. The Farnsworths are interested in "the Void" - a kind of erasing of lines between subject and object. Here, the Buddha is surrendering to the Void, depicted with a body of white light - both present and gone beyond.
