Often densely populated with a menagerie of characters and forms, Nicolas’s work reveals itself slowly and weaves a kind of never-ending story. Each piece, whether painting, sculpture or video, sets a narrative in motion. His work is complexly-structured and imbued with humor and irony – but where the story goes and how it ends is ultimately left to each viewer to finish.

Born and educated in France, Nicolas received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts, where he also now teaches. He has had numerous solo exhibitions including at Stux Gallery, NYC; Virgil De Voldere Gallery, NYC; and Alain Le Gaillard Gallery in Paris. His work has been reviewed in publications that range from The Village Voice, The New York Sun, TIME Magazine; and Cool Hunting; to Flash Art Italy and PARIS Capitale. Nicolas has also received a Fulbright Fellowship Commission and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space Residency, among other awards.
